The Central Government has distributed food grains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) to about 81.35 crore beneficiaries (i.e. Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families and Priority Family (PHH) beneficiaries as per their eligibility. It has been decided to continue providing free food grains for the next five years with effect from January 1, 2024 (i.e. 35 kg food grains per AAY family per month and 5 kg food grains per person per month in case of priority families).
