Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission launched on 25th June 2015 which intends to provide housing for all in urban areas by year 2022. The Mission provides Central Assistance to the implementing agencies through States/Union Territories (UTs) and Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for providing houses to all eligible families/ beneficiaries against the validated demand for houses for about 1.12 cr. As per PMAY(U) guidelines, the size of a house for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) could be upto 30 sq. mt. carpet area, however States/UTs have the flexibility to enhance the size of houses in consultation and approval of the Ministry.

    • Annual household income between ₹6-12 lakh (MIG-I) and ₹12-18 lakh (MIG-II).
    • Housing loans taken after June 17, 2015 (MIG-I) and January 1, 2017 (MIG-II).

Ineligibility

  • Individuals who already own a pucca house.
  • Non-residents of urban areas.
  • Individuals who have availed of other housing schemes by the government.

How to Apply for PMAY-U

  1. Online Application:
    • Visit the official website: https://pmaymis.gov.in.
    • Click on “Citizen Assessment” under the “Benefits under other 3 Components” section.
    • Enter Aadhaar details and verify.
    • Fill out the form with personal, income, and contact details.
    • Submit the application and save the acknowledgment number.
  2. Through Common Service Centers (CSCs):
    • Visit the nearest CSC with Aadhaar and income proof.
    • Fill out the application with the help of the CSC operator.
    • Pay a nominal fee for application submission.
  3. Banks and Housing Finance Companies (HFCs):
    • Apply for CLSS directly through empaneled banks and HFCs.
